Hello Be Fearless Runners.
Below is information that we just shared with our 2024 registered participants, however this news affects our entire community therefore we are sharing it with everyone!
We hope the holiday season has embraced you all and you are all still enjoying the trails out there, though we are wishing for snow!
We want to thank you all for your continuous support towards our Be Fearless Squamish Event.
Sunday Morning seems odd to be sending out event info, but we wanted to share this important information with you as soon as possible.
We have a very important event update to share with you so please take your time as you read below.
We have been notified by BC Parks, specifically the management at Alice Lake which is our start and finish line location, that no large events are allowed to occur, in the park, after the May long weekend and before the September long weekend starting in 2024. (they are allowing events in June but only on weekdays.)
This news is devastating to us, we have held our event on the same, first weekend of June, for the past 7 years.
We have created a reliable event that so many members of our community depend on, look to join and support.
Over the past couple of years it has become increasingly difficult for event organizers to work within this park, however we have done an excellent job each year as the park throws out new requirements, to meet them because we love this event, we have poured our hearts into it and we feel strongly that there should be an event at Alice Lake showcasing how amazing these trails and community are.
We are always striving to create the best experience for both the public and the participants, which we feel we do a grand job of and feedback from the parks also shows.
Our options for 2024, change the event date or create a new event with a new start/finish line location.
We have chosen a new event date. We have explored new start/finish locations in the past in Squamish and nothing comes close to Alice Lake, also given our time frame we feel the best option for the best experience is a change of date versus the creation of a new route with a new location, given the already difficult permit measures in place within Squamish.
Working around many other amazing events in the lower mainland we have chosen the new date for 2024 Be Fearless to be April 27, 2024
We understand that this date change impacts everyone a lot, training, travel plans, other life plans etc.
Over the next 24hours we are going to be updating the website, registration site and sharing this news on our social media. We will also be adjusting our group training runs that lead up to Be Fearless.
As we receive this challenging news from Alice Lake, we are going to take this as an opportunity, we have a new event that we have been working on behind the scenes and feel this is a good time to get the ball rolling on that. The goal is to have this new event take place on June 1, 2024. Full New Event information will be shared as soon as possible! Stay tuned, we are very excited about this one!
