I recently purchased this balance board and I am so excited to share it with you!
Normally, during my physio appointments, I head over to the gym area to work with the fun dynamic equipment they have. The gym I go to has some of same equipment available but not all of it (not the balance boards).
Currently my physio exercises are emphasizing balance and re strengthening my left leg muscles (quad and hamstring mostly). Since my surgery, this past September, left me unable to use my left leg for about 6 weeks, it has fallen behind. (you can noticeably see the size difference in my quads)
I am also currently unable to do any type of squats or lunges, due to the ongoing knee pain, so we are working on keeping the leg muscles strong with other movements.
Back to balance. As a runner and trail runner specifically it is sooo important that we work on our balance and agility in addition to our strength. I am running on trails with varied types of terrain including rocks and roots, having to navigate my feet quickly through all that lie ahead on the dirt path.
Single leg balance on this board is super fun and an activity I am working to be better at.
You can also use these balance boards for core strength, including push up variations, squat variations, plank variations and lunge variations.
You will find with some balance boards that they have a small flat area on the bottom of the hard curved piece, this actually makes it easier to balance. This particular board does not have that, which is exactly what I was looking for. Its full rounded bottom is the challenge of the balance.
This balance trainer has a 30 degree incline, it is made from 100% wood & sturdy ABS plastic, it also has an anti-skid surface on the top (the black sections).
Super fun! I can't wait to use this daily!
Board Dimensions: 40L x 40W x 11.9H Centimetres
TIP: If you are just starting to practise balance put the board onto a yoga mat, acts as a little cushion and cups the plastic curve. It's also great to start by holding a broom stick or hockey stick etc. with one hand to help begin balance.
