We are redefining what it means to RUN LIKE A GIRL here at Run Like A Girl Adventures Inc.
We have been since day one. Since the day we were out for a run trying to think of a group name for our new facebook group page.
A page that was created to connect family and friends through outdoor movement. Our weekly group runs and stretches in the park grew to hikes in mountains, runs in the trails. Then we hopped on bikes, mountain bikes, then we stood on paddle boards, then we said hey do you all want to join us?!
And then we ran farther and gathered all types of outdoor (and indoor) activity seekers to our community.
We had always set out to explore and have fun, which is always goal #1 but we also saw something change in our community. We saw people begin to feel more confident, they started to feel proud of themselves, they started to try new things, become consistent, run a little farther.
The power of community has been the biggest leading passion of mine through these past 12 years. I have seen people's lives change and its incredible. I have held the hands, sat beside, shared words of encouragement to those who overcame a fear, those who tried even though they were scared.
Still to this day, do I see laughs, giggles, I get the flailing hands and sissy running on the spot jokes from men when they see RUN LIKE A GIRL on the side of my truck or via my email address or anywhere that I have interaction with anything that says RUN LIKE A GIRL.
Like it's cute, like its fragile. It becomes my power and fuel.
These reactions secure my purpose and mission.
RUN LIKE A GIRL is powerful. Is strong. Is overcoming. Is badass. Is moving one foot in front of the other. Is following your heart. Is confidence. Is being scared by trying. Is failing but getting back up. Is empowerment. Is support. It means you can do anything!
RUN LIKE A GIRL can mean and be anything you want it to be.
What I want the WORLD to know is that Running Like A Girl is a powerful act not something that is demeaning.
We won't be looked down upon. We are looked up to as leaders. Leaders in our own lives.
WHO IS WITH US? SHOUT IT AS LOUD AS YOU CAN
I RUN LIKE A GIRL!
We are proud of it! I couldn't be more proud of what we have created, defined and establish with our ogranization.
