Where?

Kananaskis Country, also called K-Country by local Albertans, is a pristine place. Covering over 4,000 square kilometers of the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies, Kananaskis borders the town of Canmore and Banff National Park. Home to endless mountain summits, trails, lakes, waterfalls and wildlife. In nearby Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, the Grassi Lakes Trail weaves past a waterfall to 2 turquoise blue lakes. The park also features cross-country ski and mountain-bike trails.

We have chosen two local Kanasaskis trails for us to complete our trail 10k run and sunrise summit hike on. The trails offer beautiful views, a variety of terrain and elevation gain. The trail we will run for our 10k is in the Powderface Area. Offering excellent views of Mount Glasgow, Mount Cornwall, Outlaw Peak and Banded Peak. Our sunrise hike will be determined closer to our adventure however will be full of views and a sunrise!

What?

This Conquer The Mountain Trail 10k includes an 8 week training program! We are going to train together, virtually where we live for 8 weeks and then come together to complete our run in Kanaskis! We have paired our Saturday Run with a Sunday sunrise summit hike! This run is NOT A RACE! But a personal experience supported by our team!

The 8 week program includes coaching with Keri Bowzaylo, Zoom consultation, an 8 week customized mileage plan to your level and lifestyle,  updates and or modifications to your program if needed, an at home stretch and release program, HIP mobility program, private Facebook group with weekly topic discussions, a marked running route and Zooms sessions on the following topics!

  • Goal setting – week 1
  • Keys to Injury Prevention and Gear – Week 4
  • What to pack for my trail 10k – Week 7

Our program has been designed to help you set and achieve your goal! We want to remove any pressure or uncertainty that you might feel about increasing your distance or learning to run in the trails/mountains! We recommend that you have a running base of 4kms to start this program! 

When?

  • April 12, 2021: First week of training program starts
  • June 12 & 13, 2021: Run/Hike Weekend
  • 15 spots remain
  • This program has a limit of 15 people.

For anyone and everyone who is looking to challenge themselves, achieve a new running distance, learn to trail run and be inspired and empowered by women!

This experience is truly unique, an unforgettable experience. This is a women’s only trip.
